Paula says….

“…this week a site I help author called Lesbiatopia was banned from the popular internet book marking site Digg as was another Lesbian authored site called a Girl in short shorts. E mails to digg asking why have to date gone unanswered.

I have a couple of posts up on our site about it… and I know that this is a busy time for all of you but please, if you could take just a minute to weigh in on all of this.

And I leave you with this little poem today.

First the Nazis came…
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

~Martin Niemöller

This week they came for Lesbiatopia.. care to speak?”

Me Sweets, Th’ Cap’n suggests Th’Crew be sailin’ o’er t’Paula’s site an’ be doin’ just that…speakin’ out. Hit th’Digg Button an’ tell th’blackguards what for.

UPDATE: A post that was put up on ‘digg’ by Paula, ‘Revenge of the Dykes, Part 1′, has been deleted from the diggtator site.

    I knew about Just A Girl in Short Shorts…I agree with her surmise that the Digg folks are a bunch of adolescent, pimple faced dweebs who enjoy wielding their power in a way that negates our ability to express our Constitutional rights for free speech. Just A Girl and Lesbiatopia are not offensive to me. I’m a middle-aged woman with children who pays my taxes, runs virus scan, and buys Clearasil for my teenagers. It’s wrong and deserves attention from all of us who blog and believe that free speech is our inherent right.

    and you see what we are up against here… all I can say is let them know how you feel Lori…

  6. December 22, 2007 at 9:23 am

    Your Majesty this is exactly what Becky and I are saying this is a homophobic effort on the part of Digg to silence Lesbian Authored blogs… and now you are on their list of Inappropriate sites as well for supporting us… if you know people let them know this is happening…

    its 2008 for Christ Sakes and time for them to grow up

    I think it would be great if you wrote the BBC…

    I do hope Paula, etc. go through with their possible claim in the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. I will put in my two bits on experience with them. I think that is the only way they will listen. And it is not a tribunal I would want to appear before charged with misogyny and homophobia.

    Oh Mighty Queen… I sent a little E mail to Digg Partner Photo Bucket

    I have been a user of Photo Bucket for sometime now, I really like your service, but I could not help noticing that Photo Bucket and digg are now partnering. I think this is an unfortunate decision on Photo Buckets part.

    You may not know this but in the past two weeks digg has started banning Gay
    and Lesbian authored sites from posting on its pages… if you go to this link you can read more about this despicable act by digg. http://www.lesbiatopia.com/2007/12/you-cant-pull-wool-over-our-eyes.html

    Plese follow the whole string and all of the links if you would.

    But this brings me to the point of my communication with you… being a partner with digg I was wondering if it this also Photo Buckets position on gay and lesbian users.

    Please let me know and if it is I will gladly remove my account and my photos from your service and with tell my fellow gay and lesbian publishers to do the same

    Regards,

    Paula S. Brooks

    and I got this reply back…

    Dear Paula,

    We were not aware of this situation and I have looked over the links you
    submitted and we will continue to look into this further. Sorry for any
    inconvenience, thanks for bringing this to our attention and we will continue
    to look into this!

    Have a great holiday!!!!

    Sincerely,

    Your Photobucket Support Team

    any one else care to drop them a line?

  16. December 24, 2007 at 11:28 am

    Arrr!! A fight! I loves me a good fight! Action Stations!!

    Stand to!! Open the ports and roll out the guns. Steady on lads! This is a close aboard rolling broadside. Give ‘em a double shot of 37 from both decks an’ well come about and give ‘em the other side!

    Don’t stop loadin’ ’til there’s all left but kindlin’ sticks!!

  17. December 24, 2007 at 3:22 pm

    Yarrrrr Cap’in,

    Might be the way to win these scurvy hetero-dogs over is to show em a little hot lesbian action? You know, the kind of hot rug munching action that makes all men appriciate lesbians?

    I’m just saying, if I saw a link that featured carpet munching pics; I’d digg it up.

Brief Statement by the Crew

The Crew here on th'good ship, 'Mound of Blue Dykes' recognize Pohl's Law which states that there is nothing so good that everyone will love it. We also believe the reverse is true. Therefore, if you like what you see here the Dykie Dryad will no doubt leave something good in your left shoe.
